Notes about "la Musa del Fango"
Two plain women, one argentine, the other from Europe live a love relationship with respectively a “compadrito” and a “niño bien”, in around 1930. These “porteña” society’s typical characters were many times a source of inspiration for the tango poets.
Four dancers, two singers are in charge of the dramatic situations. The music is well represented by violin, piano, bandoneón, and flute.
The piece written by Prof. María Edith Bernatene, was first presented in 1998 in Buenos Aires. Since then has been performed in several theatres of Buenos Aires City and the Province of Buenos Aires. Followed its presentation in Festival of Cultures, Berlin, 2004 and at the International Festival of Tango Rioplatense, Luxemburg, 2004.
La Musa del Fango is performed at the present time in Tango Festivals in Argentina and internationally. Simultaneously Individual and Groupal classes are given with the assistance of the participating dancers.
